Who we are
I have always been a magnet for human connection. Raised in a large family (I’m one of 6 kids) I learned early on in life how to get my voice heard.
But it didn’t happen overnight.
Growing up, I was like any other ordinary kid in the 80s: a nerd, am I right? Before I hit puberty, kids used to make fun of me for being a little chunky with glasses . . . and a slight lisp.
Ok, I was probably a walking target, but I didn’t realize I was being bullied until I was older. Hindsight, right?
I discovered the power of exercise when I started middle school. I worked out like crazy to get 6-pack abs, and back then in the 90s being skinny was “in”.
I would fast for days if someone said I had a fat ass. Now, big booties are in—go figure.
When the 8th grade yearbooks came out I was voted “Most Talkative” which irritated me greatly.
Once high school started, I was nicknamed “Jane Fonda” which stuck with me for years as I participated in Track & Field, Golf and Water polo teams.
But I didn’t have the nutrition right.
Upon graduation from high school I was once again voted “Most Likely to be Talk Show Host” which again (much to my chagrin) irritated me. Instead of looking at this as a positive attribute, I scoffed at the title.
As life carried on with college, I majored in Public Relations and Advertising. As I developed my career as a business development professional, I started to reflect on my life and realized that I need to accept these God-given gifts.
During Covid I picked up my entire family and life from the comfort of Orange County, California and moved to Tampa, Florida to operate a family business.
Things were going great until they weren’t.
I tried to make it work, and finally made the tough choice to walk away and start over.
These past five years I have had the pleasure to immerse myself in the CPG industry meeting top entrepreneurs and founders, while learning about the complex intricacies of the food system.
I am all about clean ingredients and better for you brands that are mission-based, driven by people over profits. Don’t get me wrong, I want everyone to be successful, but not at the cost of one’s health.
As I continued to learn and evolve, I realized a gap in the CPG podcast community. I wanted to bring a new perspective to the forefront while amplifying my community partners, but I wanted it to be different.
I want open conversations to evolve naturally. We might go off topic—that’s ok. We can do whatever and say whatever we want with raw, real conversations.
Once I realized my power to create this myself, rather than wait and let someone do it, I decided to just go for it.
So here we grow!
